Q: What time does the carnival start?

A: The procession starts at 7.15pm. If you have booked Grandstand seating you are advised to be seated by 7:00pm to allow time for ticket verification.

Q: What time are roads closed in the town centre?

A: Town Centre roads will close at 6pm (prompt) to secure the procession route. Coach Route Directional Signage avoids these closures, so please follow the signed route.

Q: Where is the best place to park?

The Beach Lawns are being made available for car parking from 12.00 noon on the day of the carnival at a cost of £5.00 per car.

Visitors can reach Beach Lawns by following the Coach Route Parking as far as the Sea Front. This will take you to the Beach Lawns area.

Visitors are also advised to take advantage of on-street parking where possible and enjoy a leisurely stroll into town.

Check Council run car-parks for available parking (please note that these are mainly within the route and therefore exit will not be possible until the conclusion of the Carnival).

Q: What route does the procession take so I can somewhere we can watch?

The procession starts at Locking Road car park, turns left at the roundabout, past Tesco’s following Alexandra Parade and left on to Alfred Street.  At the end of Alfred Street the procession turns left on to the Boulevard, along Waterloo Street and South Parade turning left at the Cabot Bars on to the seafront (Royal Parade). Once it reaches the Weston Wheel it will turn left on to Carlton Street, travelling along Station Road where it ends.

Q: How do I book seats in the Grandstand?

A: Grandstand seating is available to all. Tickets are available online and you are able to select your preferred seating. Seats are £18 each (plus booking fee) but book early and take advantage of the £16 earlybird rate (subject to availability).

Q: What happens if we buy Grandstand Seating and people stand in front of the seats?

The seating will not be obstructed by spectators. The seating will be close to the kerb edge. Those who purchase tickets for the Granstand will have reserved seating and will be covered to protect from wind and rain.

Marshalls will be in attendanace and and the area will be cordened off.


Each and every collector will wear an Official (colour TBC) sash. Each collecting tin or bucket will carry an Official Number with a (colour TBC)  label across the tin or bucket. Official Collecting Floats will also appear in the procession. Please give your donations to Official Collectors ONLY.
